I must be mad...

After the trials and tribulations of publishing Encounters, I promised myself that I wouldn't inflict any more of my poetic musings on the world at large. In fact, I haven't had a single creative thought in several weeks/months. That is to say I hadn't, until the wee small hours of Friday morning when, suffering the Mother of all headaches combined with a session of insomnia, I broke the creative drought.

It was just a small poetic offering of five lines in ABC form, but it was enough. Now I have a new book title to work with and some brand spanking new material.

So for anyone who may be interested, here is a sample or two from 'Nuggets and Pearls' I hope that you enjoy.

Ancient Soul

The youngest eyes hold hidden truths
of questions raised and loss of youth.
Beguiling, sweet... so unaware
an ancient soul lies hidden there.

Within the depths of sapphire's hue
lies wisdom that is old but true,
whilst taking stock, new life unfurls,
both strangers to this modern world.

The innocence of infancy
yet gentle eyes hold mystery...
a deeper, calmer sense of self,
an ancient soul... spiritual wealth.

Acceptance

 Denounce me not
for lack of faith
should I fail
to follow yours,
for I have faith
in all around
to steer a
steady course.

Condemn me not
for differences
of opinion, colour, creed;
nor slate me
for my choices
in the things
that I believe.

Convict me not
for following
ways you consider
to be sham,
nor criticize
my honesty
when discovering
who I am.

Accuse me not
of floundering
amidst a
faithless sea,
of sheltering
'neath Satan's cloth,
should I cite the
Wiccan Reade.

Deny me not
my destiny
within this
grand design,
for I am
of Humanity,
and my faith
is not a crime.

I believe in
all creation,
love of soul and
purity of heart:
in Mother Nature's
blessings
and the bounty
she imparts.

My choices are
made freely,
just as yours
are plain to see.
Though I accept you
as you are...
can you say
the same of me?

  1. I am so sorry that you had to endure the MOA headaches and the insomnia, however, the resultant work is absolutely brilliant. 'Acceptance' is goosebump material.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, there's still a long way to go yet, but at least I've made a start.

  2. Insomnia I can deal with, but only by writing novels. Poetry? When you can't sleep? I have no sympathy ;-)

    1. LOL... I know, I know, but someone has to do it? Was nice to have some company though, however brief. ;@))

  3. Lovely, Laurie, and very thought provoking. I know the 'drought feeling' only too well. Not written anything since November when hubby went into hospital. Just can't seem to settle to it. Roll on insomnia and a headache.
