Available in print - Encounters - Emotional Landscapes

Well, here it is, for better or worse Encounters is about ready to unleash onto an unsuspecting world.

Poetry is a subjective entity. What is loved by one person may well be detested by the next. And I'm quite prepared for the latter.

I am no Burns, Keats or Shelley, but I think /hope that I create some emotive imagery within my poetry that many people will be able to relate to.

Many people consider some poetry to be too obscure, finding themselves transported back to secondary school and the arduous task of dissecting a piece, just to find what the poet is 'supposed' to have meant. I don't know about you, but I suspect this approach killed the enjoyment of poetry in many a young person. It did for me and it would be many years before I found that enjoyment  again.

With that in mind that I set out to write a collection of poetry that could spark some form of emotive reaction from anyone who reads it, without the need to dissect anything.

A writer friend of mine and fellow poet, Jessica Bell, The Alliterative Allomorph once made the following comment;

 'The thing I like about writing poetry, is that I can tell a story, without actually telling it...'

The quote may not be word perfect, but it demonstrates my own feelings about why and how I try to write poetry. I may draw the images and have my own take on the meaning,  but I'd like to think the reader can also interpret them to suit their own feelings.

Well, that's the plan. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Encounters is only available in print at the moment, but I hope to have the full complement of e-versions available as soon as possible. (More about that in a later blog...lol)

Inspiration for the content has been taken from personal experiences and observed situations. In doing so, I hope to have tackled some emotive issues on abuse and death, whilst effectively balancing these darker poems with a mix of sensual, erotic and spiritual offerings.

At the same time, I also takes a playful dig at some of life’s minor irritations.
